Mediation offers parties a unique opportunity to resolve a dispute in a less formal and far more comfortable fashion than use of the traditional court process.
Mediation and other forms of ADR are entirely voluntary, informal and the only rules are those to which the participants agree. Instead of engaging in combat in a courtroom, mediation offers a safe and non-threatening environment where participants can feel comfortable to address their positions on a dispute and encourages parties to truly listen to the opposing party's position without fear of retribution.
We hear a lot these days of the power of vulnerability and the tremendous importance of human connection. Mediation shows us how truly powerful it can be to engage with another where there is a shared goal of resolution.
